FW woman wins $20K in recipe contest

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WANE) - Cooking Light announced Monday that Suzanne Rumsey of Fort Wayne is the $20,000 Grand Prize winner of the 2009 Cooking Light Ultimate Reader Recipe Contest.
Rumsey won for her original recipe of Greek Chicken and Barley Salad in the Family Dinners category. On her behalf, Cooking Light will donate $5,000 to Heifer International, a non-profit organization that strives to end world hunger and poverty.
Rumsey was selected from among 12 finalists at the finale cook-off in Cooking Light’s Test Kitchen in Birmingham as well as thousands of initial entries from across the nation. Each finalist competed in one of four categories: Starters and Drinks, Sides and Salads, Family Dinners, and Desserts. The other category winners, who received $5,000 each, were:
